Discover the creative possibilities of Art Clay Copper, a versatile metal clay that allows you to craft beautiful copper jewelry and decorative pieces with ease. Similar to Art Clay Silver, this innovative copper clay is simple to shape, mold, and sculpt, making it perfect for both beginners and experienced metal clay artists.

Fire Art Clay Copper by torch or in the kiln

Once your design is complete, Art Clay Copper must be fired to transform the clay into solid copper. Firing can be done in a kiln or by torch firing, making the process accessible even for small studios or home workshops. The working techniques are the same as those used with silver clay, so artists familiar with metal clay will feel right at home.

      Oxidation of copper pieces

Unlike silver clay, copper clay reacts naturally with oxygen in the air. This reaction can create a brown-black oxidation layer on the surface after firing. In some cases, pickling may be required to clean and brighten the metal, revealing the warm, rich color of pure copper.

To prevent discoloration of your hands while working, we recommend using “Gloves in a Bottle” as a protective barrier.
